I’m a photographer based in Zürich, working mainly in black and white.

For me, photography starts long before I press the shutter. I need to get into the right frame of mind – to slow down, look properly and become aware of what is happening around me. Once I’m in that mode, the photographs somehow start finding me.

Street photography has changed the way I see. I’m drawn to small moments, gestures, light, shapes and the occasional bit of humour – things that are easy to miss when you’re simply walking from one place to another. I rarely go out with a particular photograph in mind. I walk, observe and react to whatever the street gives me.

Black and white has been part of my photography from the beginning. I started developing my own photographs in a darkroom as a teenager, moved into colour for many years, and eventually found my way back to monochrome. It simply feels like the most natural way for me to photograph.

I also photograph people, landscapes and architecture, but the idea remains much the same: look carefully, keep things simple, and wait for something worth photographing.
